Thai massage is an ancient healing practice well known in the East for its restorative and therapeutic effects. Unlike traditional massage on the table, Thai massage is performed on a padded mat on the floor with the client completely clothed. Little to no oils or creams are applied. It is a combination of acupressure, massage and assisted or passive yoga stretching. It is recommended clients wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing which allows for free movement.
Thai massage is sometimes referred to as “lazy yoga”. The therapist moves the client’s limbs into different positions and applies pressure to remove blockages in Sen lines (energy lines) throughout their body. Specific poses & compressions are designed to not only relax muscle tension & renew energy, but Thai massage is unique in its ability to increase flexibility, range of motion, overall circulation & posture. Thai massage can be as calming as it is energizing.
Many clients also report that Thai massage helps them to feel emotionally and mentally centered, as well as rejuvenated and relaxed.
An intake form will be required prior to the first session, where medical conditions or particular areas of concern should be communicated. Always consult with your physician before getting any massage.
